Six Plants. One Statewide Industry.
Get a firsthand look at North Dakota’s ethanol industry! The North Dakota Ethanol Council offers ethanol facility tours for students and educators to explore how ethanol is made, discover career opportunities and learn how the industry supports agriculture and rural communities across the state.
Who: Five North Dakota ethanol facilities currently welcome student and educator tours: Blue Flint Ethanol in Underwood, Dakota Spirit in Spiritwood, Guardian Energy Hankinson in Hankinson, Gevo North Dakota in Richardton and Tharaldson Ethanol in Casselton.
What: Each visit includes an approximately one-hour facility tour and discussion with plant representatives covering ethanol production, career opportunities and the industry’s impact on North Dakota. Full-length pants and closed-toe shoes are required.
When: Tours are available throughout the school year and can be incorporated into a field trip, classroom experience or travel to another event.
Why: See firsthand how North Dakota agriculture and energy come together. Ethanol facilities create jobs, add value to North Dakota corn and contribute to the economic strength of rural communities.
These tours are offered in partnership with the North Dakota FFA Foundation as part of NDEC’s commitment to ethanol education.
